Terms of use

Statometrics is a data and research service for betting exchange markets, operated by Kieran Doyle, trading as Statometrics, at statometrics.com.

We record and publish historical price data from betting exchanges, and we build tools that let you test ideas against it. That is the whole of the service.

These terms apply whenever you use the site, whether or not you hold an account. By using it, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

This is the most important section on the page, so it is near the top.

• ·We are not a bookmaker, a betting exchange, or any kind of gambling operator. We are not licensed as one and we do not need to be.
• ·We never accept a wager, hold a stake, take a deposit against betting, place a bet on your behalf, or operate a market of any kind.
• ·Nothing on this site is advice, a tip, a recommendation, or a forecast. A figure we publish is a record of what happened, not a statement about what will happen.
• ·We are not a financial adviser and nothing here is financial advice or an inducement to bet.

If you choose to bet, that is entirely your decision, made with your own money, at your own risk, with an operator we have nothing to do with.

You must be 18 or over to hold an account. You must give accurate details and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for everything done through your account.

One person, one account. Do not share your login, and do not give, sell or rent your access to anybody else. Accounts that are shared may be closed without a refund.

You may close your account at any time. We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why.

Paid tiers are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. The price you sign up at is the price you keep for as long as that subscription runs without a break.

If we change the price of a tier, existing members keep their rate. A member who cancels and rejoins later joins at the rate offered on the day they rejoin.

Cancel at any time from your account. Your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for, and no further payment is taken.

Refunds are covered separately on the refunds page, and nothing in these terms reduces the rights you have under consumer law.

Your subscription buys you personal access. You may use the data and the tools for your own research and your own betting, and you may show results to other people.

You may not:

• ·resell, redistribute, publish or syndicate our data, in bulk or in part, whether free or for payment;
• ·scrape, crawl, or systematically download the site, or use automated tools against it beyond ordinary browsing;
• ·use our data to build or train a competing product or service;
• ·attempt to reach any system, route or database we have not made available to your account.

We keep the copyright and database rights in everything we publish. Underlying market prices originate from betting exchanges and are used here as historical record.

We try to keep the site up and we do not promise that it always will be. It may be unavailable for maintenance, for a fault, or because something upstream of us has failed.

We may change, add or withdraw features. If we withdraw something material from a paid tier, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your period.

We take accuracy seriously — it is the entire value of the thing. Every figure is measured from recorded data, costs are included before any result is claimed, and where a result is weak we say so on the same page that shows it.

We do not warrant that the data is complete or free of error. Data arrives from third parties and third parties make mistakes. Where we find an error we correct it and, if it changed a published figure, we say that it did.

Past results are a record of the past. They carry no promise whatsoever about the future.

We are liable to you for loss we cause by breaking these terms or by failing to use reasonable care — but not for anything unforeseeable, and not for the consequences of your own betting decisions.

We are not liable for money you lose betting. That is true however you arrived at the bet, including if you arrived at it using our tools.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Betting loses money more often than it makes it. That is true of most people who do it, and it is true of most of the ideas we test.

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows when it was last changed.

Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, cancel, and we will refund the unused part of your period.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
